Rock and Teach-In against the TPP

PCM participated in
Rock Against the TPP
and the TPP Teach-In
Toronto, September 16th and 17th, 2016

Rock Against the TPP filled the Opera House on Queen Street for a free concert on September 16, 2016. The Toronto stop was sponsored by CWA Canada, and organized with support from OpenMedia, the Council of Canadians, Common Frontiers and a network of Canadian public interest groups (including PCM) working to educate Canadians about the impact the TPP would have on their lives.

PCM members at the concert took the opportunity to tweet about it and about TPP issues. See .

Short educational/inspirational presentations were interspersed with the rock acts, including Emmay Mah from PCM. The photo below is COC health care campaigner Michael Butler.

The “rock” line-up included Pittsburgh-based punk band Anti-Flag, Bronx-based hip-hop duo Rebel Diaz (Rodrigo Starz & G1), Taina Asili, Mark Brathwaite, The Homeless Gospel Choir, Test Their Logik, New Tradition, Mineta, and DJ Dynamic. A great collection of photos by Katie Maz (including the two below) is posted at MindTheMusic.

How to Fight the TPP: Teach-In & Training

The day after the concert, Saturday afternoon, activists gathered at the United Steelworkers Hall, on Cecil St. for discussions about how to fight the trade deal.

At the PCM table, teach-in participants could pick their TPP issue of greatest concern, for a photo to post on social media.
