The People’s Climate Movement of the Greater Toronto Area stands in solidarity with the Water and Land Protectors in Coast Salish territory (B.C.) engaged in peaceful civil disobedience to stop the construction of the Kinder Morgan pipeline, preserve clean land and water and a habitable climate, and defend Indigenous sovereignty.
We call on the Trudeau government to do as promised during the 2015 election:
respect the wishes of Indigenous people, and be the climate leaders they have said they wish to be!
Construction of this pipeline would be:
- contrary to reconciliation with Indigenous people
- extremely dangerous to both the local and global environment, and
- would make it impossible for Canada to live up to our commitments under the 2015 Paris Climate agreement.
We call on the Trudeau government to listen to the Land and Water Protectors, and to reject the Kinder Morgan pipeline.
